With its aromatic, warming flavours, our KOTTAS Kräuterhaus Speculoos Spice brings the magical taste of Christmas into your kitchen. This winter spice blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, coriander and more not only gives biscuits and cake batter a deliciously festive touch, but also surprises with its harmonious flavour in winter tiramisu variations or breakfast porridge. Every meal becomes a little celebration!

KOTTAS Kräuterhaus Speculoos Spice consists exclusively of 100% natural ingredients and contains no preservatives, flavour enhancers or artificial additives. The spice is caffeine-free and vegan. The ingredients contained in KOTTAS spices are tested according to strict criteria using extensive tests for identity, purity and active ingredient content. Manufactured in our small factory in Vienna.

Cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, coriander, cardamom, star anise, lemon peel, orange peel, fennel, allspice

Preparation

Spekulatius Recipe
(For about 65 to 70 cookies)

Ingredients:

  • 150 g butter

  • 200 g fine sugar

  • 300 g all-purpose flour

  • 1 egg

  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

  • 2 teaspoons KOTTAS Kräuterhaus Spekulatius spice mix

Instructions:

  1. If needed, grind the sugar into a fine powder using a mixer.

  2. Weigh all the ingredients.

  3. In a bowl, mix the flour with the baking powder. Add the sugar, egg, KOTTAS Kräuterhaus Spekulatius spice mix, and butter. Knead everything together by hand until a smooth, firm shortcrust dough forms.

  4. Let the dough rest in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.

  5. Shape the dough into Spekulatius cookies and arrange them closely together on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

  6. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) with top/bottom heat.

  7. Bake the cookies for about 10 to 12 minutes, until they are crisp and light brown

Notes

Storage: Store flavour-protected, dry and not above room temperature (25°C).
