Our slightly spicy KOTTAS Kräuterhaus Szechuan pepper gives your meat or fish dishes a refreshing, spicy, lemony flavour. It also makes an excellent accompaniment to vegetarian dishes.
Contrary to common belief, this particular spice is not a relative of black pepper. It belongs to the rue family and its name refers to the central Chinese province of Sichuan, where Szechuan pepper has a firm place in the local cuisine. For this exciting tingling spice, the dried fruit peels, from which the seeds have been removed, are used. These contain above all a lot of essential oils, which by their interaction ultimately cause the citrus flavour.
KOTTAS Kräuterhaus Szechuan Pepper is made exclusively from 100% natural ingredients and contains no preservatives, flavour enhancers or artificial additives. It is salt-free, caffeine-free and vegan. The spices contained in KOTTAS products are tested for identity, purity and active ingredient content according to strict criteria based on extensive analyses. Spice blend from Austria, produced in our small manufactory in Vienna.
