With its colourful fruits, it is of great importance there as a fruit plant with a high water, mineral and vitamin content. The bitter melon (Momordica charantia) is a tropical, herbaceous climbing plant from the gourd family. It has been valued for centuries in culinary and folk medicine, particularly in Asian countries. Cinnamon is made from the dried bark of the Ceylon cinnamon tree and is one of the oldest and most popular spices in the world. The trace element chromium contributes to the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels and to normal macronutrient metabolism.
