    The citrus kick in a pepper coat! Our slightly spicy KOTTAS Kräuterhaus Szechuan pepper gives your meat or fish dishes a refreshing, spicy, lemony flavour. It also makes an excellent accompaniment to vegetarian dishes. Contrary to common belief, this particular spice is not a relative of black pepper. It belongs to the rue family and its name refers to the central Chinese province of Sichuan, where Szechuan pepper has a firm place in the local cuisine. For this exciting tingling spice, the dried fruit peels, from which the seeds have been removed, are used. These contain above all a lot of essential oils, which by their interaction ultimately cause the citrus flavor. KOTTAS Kräuterhaus Szechuan Pepper contains no preservatives, is free from added salt and sugar and is vegan. The spices contained in KOTTAS products are tested for identity, purity and the active ingredient content according to strict criteria based on elaborate tests.
