KOTTAS Kräuterhaus on the Freyung 1010 Vienna – since 1795
A cobbled square – one of the most beautiful in Vienna’s city centre. Winding alleyways all around. The clattering of horses’ hooves mingles with the audible hustle and bustle of people enjoying the market stalls, art and strolling around. It has the feel of medieval romance. Takes us back to the time of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, when the KOTTAS Kräuterhaus opened its doors. Back when the Viennese population visited the ‘Medicinische Kräuter Handlung’ to buy medicinal plants and recipes for the prevention and alleviation of all kinds of ailments.
To this day, the picturesque ambience of the Viennese Freyung is just as well preserved as the original furnishings in the KOTTAS Kräuterhaus. Come and take a trip back in time! You will see – as soon as you enter our herb house, time stands magically still while our staff are all the more eager to give you expert advice.

How do the best medicinal teas and herbal specialities get to the Kräuterhaus? This is done by our ambitious team of employees at our location in Vienna’s 23rd district. Our purchasing department keeps a very close eye on the quality of all raw materials. There is complete traceability of where everything comes from. Every herb has its place in our modern warehouse in the south of Vienna – at the right temperature and under ideal storage conditions.
Production facility in 1230 Vienna
Anything that wants to become a speciality medicinal tea has to pass many tests. In our production facility, our experts analyse all incoming raw materials in well-equipped laboratories. Whether flowers, herbs, roots or leaves – what counts for us is purity, authenticity, quality, freedom from harmful substances and, of course, the active ingredient content of each plant. We carefully process raw materials that have passed all our criteria in our production area. As you can see, our herbs go through many important steps between the meadow and the filter bag. So that you will only find KOTTAS products of the highest quality in the shops.
