KOTTAS and a love of nature – our philosophy
KOTTAS looks back on a long history. As a family. As a company. As a team of experts for modern and traditional knowledge of the Alpine medicinal herb tradition.
What is and remains the most important aspect of our 220-year company history? Respect for nature. Admiration for its wealth of plants. The preservation and passing on of valuable herbal knowledge and tried and tested home recipes over eight generations. And the proper, careful harvesting and processing of our continuously quality-tested medicinal herbs.
We believe that it is more love than chance that we are one of the leading Austrian producers of medicinal tea specialities today.
Regionality and sustainability
Most of our medicinal herbs come from wild collections. From sustainable wild collections. We only pick enough so that the natural herb population is not damaged and sufficient plants can always grow back.
The rest of our medicinal herbs come from controlled agricultural cultivation. Our medicinal specialities always contain herbs preferably from local sources. However, our range also includes all medicinal herbs commonly used in Europe. We import herbs that do not grow in our latitudes through long-term and fair trade relationships with numerous herb growers worldwide.
For some regions, herb cultivation is an essential economic or even survival factor. So everyone benefits. You too, of course: KOTTAS products that meet the highest quality and ethical standards.
Seamlessly controlled quality
Pharmacopoeia quality, pharmacy quality, monographs, specialised literature … sounds dry – and is extremely important. The outstanding quality of our herbs lies, among other things, in their purity and absence of harmful substances as well as in their proven high content of active ingredients. More on this in the pharmacopoeia quality section.
Quality lasts the longest. KOTTAS – since 1795.
